Additional questions or concerns should be directed to Samantha Walsh at 540.303.2045
Whom may I contact should I have additional questions?
What if I am unable to attend the workshop?
If circumstances arise that prevent you from attending the entire CLeW, we would like to give another student the opportunity to attend. Please contact the person at your school who selected you, and follow up with a call to Samantha Walsh at 540.303.2045 so that we may adjust our records and obtain an alternate student from your school to attend the seminar.
What transportation arrangements have been made?
You are responsible for your transportation to and from the workshop. Please include all details of your itinerary on the enclosed Travel Itinerary for Students form.
If necessary, who may I be contacted during the workshop?
Parents, friends, and family members are discouraged from calling students during the workshop due to the confusion created when meetings are interrupted. In case of emergency, your parent(s) or guardian may call Samantha Walsh at 540.303.2045.
What if I need to take medication while I am at the seminar?
Please provide information about your medication on the Medical History Records Form and bring the Physician Medication Verification Form necessary medication with you to the workshop. Make sure to read and comply with the Policy for Use of Medication During a HOBY Event.
What should I do about lunch?
You are responsible for your own lunch. None will be provided, nor will you be allowed off site for lunch. Please bring your own, non-perishable bag lunch for the day.
What kind of program is planned?
During your HOBY CLeW experience, you will engage with dynamic leaders and participate in interactive activities. The program will not promote any specific political party, business, religion, or way of thinking; but it is designed to develop thinking skills by actively involving seminar participants in discussions and informal debate. During the workshop, you will be asked to become part of HOBY’s commitment to “Leadership for Service” and use your leadership abilities to make a difference in your school, community, place of worship, or other environment where you see a need.
Where should I go when I arrive?
A HOBY volunteer committee member will greet you and check you in.
When will the CLeW be held?
CLeW participants may register between 9:40 am and 10:00 am on Saturday, April 28, 2018. The CLeW will begin at 10:00 am and conclude at 6:00 pm. You must be present for the entire day.
