ABOUT HOBY

The Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) Seminars expose today’s high school sophomores to the many challenges associated with being a leader. The process of selecting participants for our seminars begins each fall when a nomination packet is sent to every public and private school in the United States.

HOBY programs promote understanding, educational opportunity, and leadership development by allowing the participants- known as “Ambassadors”- to meet in small group settings with today’s decision makers, business and civic leaders, entrepreneurs and activists in a mentoring program, all while teaching them “how to think, not what to think”. Each seminar’s core curriculum includes sessions on: America’s Incentive System, Education, Volunteerism, Media/Communications, and The Future of the United States.
